✖ Nen means to burn your own soul. It consumes energy as fuel source but can lend you power. It is rather simple to learn the basics, but you can begin with merely your own Hatsu 'Nen Ability' as well.
However, to learn, and even master the far more advanced applications of Nen, one will require undergoing rigorous training, though the length of time varies.
In order to create your very own Hatsu, one must focus on what their specific desires are, and how that syncs up with their own respective 'Nen Type'.
If you have to brush up on your Nen knowledge, feel free to take a look at the Hunterpedia Wiki:

✖ In order to say that you truly comprehend Nen, and how Nen functions, you must learn the four basics. It is a pivotal milestone to your growth as a Nen user.
However, you could learn your Hatsu before you learn or master the other three principals of Nen, but this is not advised, as you will certainly be lacking.
It is vital to know the four principals before you can advance onto the far more complex exercises of Nen, which can take quite a lot to learn or master.
If your desire is to learn the four principals, then you may read up on them below, each one costing a single Token. However, each respective upgrade will cost an extra Token more every new upgrade:
✖ Ten: It is the act of ensuring your aura nodes remain open, but do not leak out from your body. It is vital for a Nen user to retain their Nen via the exercise, Ten.
If practiced properly, the user will feel a shroud of their Nen coat their entire body. It helps maintain one's youthful vigor and reduce the effects of aging.
It is the most basic form of Nen based defense. If trained and mastered, Ten can boost your overall defense a considerable amount.
Nen Exercise: Ten Tier: Novice Duration: Passive Effect: Any Non-Nen based damage is reduced by 1 Tier. Non-Nen Novice damage is cancelled out.
Nen Exercise: Ten Tier: Advanced Duration: Passive Effect: All damage up to Advanced is reduced by 1 Tier. All Novice damage is cancelled out.
Nen Exercise: Ten Tier: Master Duration: Passive Effect: All damage up to Master is reduced by 1 Tier. All Novice damage is cancelled out.
✖ Zetsu: In essence, Zetsu is simply just closing your aura nodes, to prevent the outward flow of Nen that forms your Ten. If one could detect your aura, they may notice your aura vanish.
If you have to close your aura nodes as to avoid detection, you may, and this can prove fruitful, but you must be wary when to use Zetsu. It is a fairly basic exercise which can be mastered once learned.
Nen Exercise: Zetsu Tier: Novice Duration: Passive Effect: Any trace of your Nen flow vanishes. Nobody may detect your Nen flow (Aura). However, you are unable to release Nen, until your Zetsu is undone.
✖ Ren: If you want to exude your aura, you can do this via Ren, a basic exercise that violently projects your aura outward.
It is an exercise which can drain you quite a lot, so more often than not, Ren will be used to enhance one's self for combat.
If one tinges their Ren with bloodlust, those exposed to the Ren without the use of Ten may be susceptible to uncontrollable dread, paralysis, or even death.
Nen Exercise: Ren Tier: Novice Cost: 10 Nen Duration: Per Post Effect: User will have all of their basic actions enhanced by Nen and their regular techniques will become Nen enhanced. Nen will visibly exude from the user for those who can see Nen.
✖ Hatsu: It is your personal and unique expression of Nen. It will draw on the qualities of your 'Nen Type', but may not be entirely limited to that. Hatsu projects your aura, to carry out a certain special function. It is known as your 'Nen Ability'.
In order to first create your own Hatsu, you may be advised to learn what 'Nen Type' you possess. However, once you do know, you may begin to manifest your unique Hatsu with far more ease. It costs 2 Tokens to unlock your Hatsu at Novice, then double per upgrade:
Nen Exercise: Hatsu Tier: Novice Duration: Passive Effect: You may register Novice Hatsu techniques.
Nen Exercise: Hatsu Tier: Advanced Duration: Passive Effect: You may register Advanced Hatsu techniques.
Nen Exercise: Hatsu Tier: Master Duration: Passive Effect: You may register Master Hatsu techniques.

✖ Nen is a rather diverse power we possess. However, every person who will harness Nen will belong to a certain 'Nen Type' which will dictate the laws of your Hatsu 'Nen Ability'. However, the one exception is the Specialist category which will yield unique properties distinct from every other 'Nen Type'.
It is your choice what 'Nen Type' you want your character to possess, with the exception of Specialist. However, when deciding your 'Nen Type', please note that the personality of your character should often serve as a clue to your 'Nen Type'.
Obtaining Specialist:
In order to obtain the Specialist 'Nen Type', you must roll a 1 out of 10 upon character approval. If you fail the roll, you may roll again at any time, but must pay a single Token per roll, with the price going up by a single Token per roll. If you create a new character, you do not get a free roll, but rather, you need to use Token(s). If you obtain the 'Nen Type', you may recreate your Hatsu, but cannot ever remove your new Hatsu.
✖ Enhancement: "It is the ability to use aura to strengthen or increase the natural abilities of an object or one's own body. Enhancers are able to greatly increase their physical attack and defense and are best suited for melee combat." - Hunterpedia
✖ Transmutation: "It means a person can change the properties of their aura to mimic something else or replicate specific attributes. Transmuted aura can be made to take on the properties of natural elements, man-made substances, and even animals, among other things." - Hunterpedia
✖ Emission: "It means that a user has an easier time separating their aura from their body. Due to its properties, Emission is typically employed in abilities with an emphasis on range and/or those that have long-lasting effects." - Hunterpedia
✖ Conjuration: "It involves creating a physical, independent, material object out of one's aura; however, users of this category can also create laws and principles and affix them to a specific area, or even create their own pocket dimension." - Hunterpedia
✖ Manipulation: "It allows the user to control living or non-living things, including aura constructs. The main advantage of this category in combat is the ability to manipulate the enemy themselves." - Hunterpedia
✖ Specialization: "It can be broadly defined as any abilities that do not belong to any of the other five categories, making it the most vague Nen type. Specialist abilities also tend to have more steps and conditions than abilities of other Nen types." - Hunterpedia

✖ Our method of creating a Hatsu is rather simple. It is a creative feature within the world designed by Yoshihiro Togashi that lets you bring your desires to fruition.
It is your unique 'Nen Ability' for your character to register Nen based techniques with. It is crucial you remember though that Hatsu cannot be truly balanced or fair every time.
However, we will do what we can to ensure Hatsu cannot be misused. It is a diverse feature of the HXH world, that will be judged on a case by case basis.
If is feasible to register a variation of your base Hatsu, for example: Texture Surprise to Bungee Gum or Holy Chain to Chain Jail. It must be a variation related to the core theme of your Hatsu.
It will cost a single Token for your first variation and an extra Token for each subsequent variation, causing each variation to be more costly than the last.
It is pertinent we understand the world of HXH can be cruel, but we must persevere with our creativity, and our limited foresight. It is with this, we venture forward!
Name: Name your Hatsu! Tier: It begins at Novice! Type: Nen Type? Requires: Self-Explanatory Drawback: Self-Explanatory Description: Please detail here how the 'Nen Ability' functions, and what potential Hatsu techniques you may be able to register, so we have an idea of what to expect! However, do not forget to tell us the main theme of the 'Nen Ability'. PHARAOH LEAP CREATES

✖ If you are creating your Hatsu you may benefit by enforcing your own conditions upon your 'Nen Ability'. It can greatly enhance the power of the particular Hatsu, but said conditions you create, will be examined to ensure this feature cannot be misused.
However, other times, conditions will be even feasibly be able to create your desired 'Nen Ability'. It will vary from case to case but generally we look at past precedents or canon precedents to properly create our restrictions or conditions.
It is crucial to note that you cannot try to cheat this feature, for example: "Jet has a condition that he cannot use an auto-loader to reload his gun or else he dies. In return for this restriction on him, he gains a max bonus on his 'Nen Ability' despite the fact his restriction having virtually no risk."
It may benefit you to now take a look at an example of a condition that does follow the rules: "Davy has a condition that he cannot stop clenching his fists until either his selected target has been KO'd or an hour has passed. In return, Davy has a Nen bonus with his fists."
It is a fair and balanced condition, with reasonable risk, because Davy will be limited with his actions and not being able to unclench his fists may lead to an eventual loss. If you want to read up more on examples of Nen restrictions, you may do so here:
