Its mast stood weathered, but the deck seemed to be kept rather clean, pristine even. Yet, this vessel was certainly an old one, he knew that much. Eru began to step onto the gangway, his backpack slung over his shoulder.
In his face, the morning sun was to shine pesteringly bright. It bothered him very much so, as he loathed waking up early, but alas, he had no real choice. If he was late for departure, the boy was to risk being retrieved by the 'Crow' organization.
It was to reek of alcohol and cigars upon boarding the ship, causing the child to frown, his mood soured by the foul stench. In order to flee from the nasty scene, the boy was to find a far corner of the deck where he can chew on his 'Bungee Gum' candy that he loved so dearly.
Eru: "Ah~ I love this flavor!"
Elated, the boy reveled within the taste of the candy. However, suddenly, a drunkard was to bump Eru by mistake during a rowdy outburst, causing the candy to fall out of the mouth of the former mafioso.
In pure shock, Eru was to just stand there, trying to process what just occurred. In response to what had just went down, the uncle of the annoyed Eru was come over to his side, lending him a soft pat on the back.
It was an unforgivable act! Eru could not believe this; his beloved candy was gone, being washed away now by the blue waters that laid below. It must be avenged!

Among the first passengers to board was a young man who held a wax sealed envelope. The blonde haired youth had quickly found the ships captain and presented the message but after taking one look at the diamond shaped seal on the letter he was rejected. Sent to the deck to join the other hopeful hunters, Tenju maintained an amicable smile despite the message crushed in his balled fist giving away the fuming anger hidden behind the grin. The salty air matched his mood as he hid his eyes from the sun under the rim of his striped bucket hat. White on green dominated his wardrobe as his daimond marked haori danced in the sea breeze. The Okashiya clan scion strode forcefully making his way over to the central mast to have a seat. As the young man sat down and looked over the envelope he couldn't help but notice that even being crumpled the wax seal did not break. His smile was broken by a heavy frown.
"This stupid letter was useless. Just what is my old man thinking sending me all the way here?"
Muttering the complaints under his breath Tenju tried to tear the envelope in half but found that it was impervious to his meddling. Raising a brow, he knew that his father must have done something to it using nen. But the youth was currently in a state of Zetsu and did not want to risk using aura to probe further. That bastard old man of his might have left a trap for Tenju knowing he would be tempted to do just that. The youth stared at the letter for a while longer, wrestling with himself on whether or not to risk it. But ultimately he sighed deeply and returned the envelope to his sleeve pocket.
It was just then that a ruckus broke out over in one corner of the ship. The jovial smile returned to Tenju's face as he appeared to enjoy the show. Internally however his smile was one of derision. How could these fools be drinking? Did they think this was a cruise line? Tenju wondered how many of the participants on the ship even knew what it truly meant to be a hunter. Then he caught eye of the poor fellow that lost their gum and paused. The drunkard seemed to remain carefree but the youth appeared to have just watched his dog get murdered. "What a waste of time." Tenju thought to himself as he predicted things were about to escalate. But he did not get up to intervene and simply continued to watch things play out as he had nothing better to do until the ship set sail and arrived in Dolle Harbor.

Antonie slowly walked onto the ship with nothing more than a rather large backpack on. In his hand were two things, a boarding pass and a letter with the official seal of the Hunter’s Association on it. He was finally taking a step toward his life’s next great adventure and hopefully toward his goal. The next exam was to take place in just a few days' time. Antonie had to make his way across the Mobius sea and to the exam’s location. The only problem was that the Hunter’s Association liked to test the applicants before the exam even started. He had heard some tales of those who sought the exam in the past and utterly failed. While he might know a general location for the exam, he didn’t know its exact address. He had to rely on his wit and look for any clues that might have been left.
Once he was properly checked in on the ship, Antonie found a nice seat on the ship. It was a mixed crowd here, that was for sure. Clearly, some of these people were on the same path as he was. They had various scars and weapons on them, looking thuggish. There were others there too, some that seemed to only be on the ferry for the sake of being on the ferry. An older couple clasped hands as they looked onward to the blue sea. It was kind of romantic and sweet. Antonie let out a soft sigh. So far love was not in the cards for him, but that was okay. He was on a mission to help save the world. That should be enough for him, right?
Before he was too comfortable where he was sitting, he noticed that a few of the men were pushing each other around and acting like fools. Judging from the bottle one of them had in their hands, they were drunk. Being his meek self, Antonie didn’t really do anything but simply sit there and stare. He saw how one of them bumped into another passager, causing them to drop whatever was in their hands right into the sea. His grip on his boarding pass tightened. Those men clearly had disrespect for the other passengers and the sea itself. Perhaps they would be escorted off or to a different, less populated area by the crew? He waited a moment but it didn’t seem like anything was going to happen. Why should it? He was the only one that cared about the environment it seemed. The rowdy group just kept getting rowdier. He sat still for the time being but if they kept making fools of himself, somebody was going to have to step in.

It ought to be a fun time with these rowdy folk, aye? Eru was to sneak a quick glance back toward the drunken fools, before he was to then ponder for but a short moment. In order to truly avenge his beloved candy he lost, the boy had to crush the oh so jolly spirit of these men. Eru was to touch his chin, with a guileful smirk upon his face. It laid writ on his face plain and obvious; Eru was to cause a scene.
It had been concocted now; his masterful plan. In the time that the uncle of Eru was to light his cig, the boy was to weasel away. However, though the boy may be scolded by the end of this, those bastards absolutely needed to pay for their sins! Eru were to casually stroll up to the band of drunkards, grasping tight unto his metal baton, with all but a sinister smile upon his face.
In a single strike of his baton, alcohol was to go flying through the air, on the clothes of the men, and on the oak deck of the ship. However, so too was glass were to lay upon the deck of the grand vessel, being quite a danger now to others. It was of no surprise to the captain of the ship though- often there were drunkards that treated this voyage as a mere vacation, but he never thought one would confront them.
Eru: "Eheheh- take tha-"
Interrupted when a fist was to connect with his face, the boy was to fall onto the floor of the deck. In spite of the commotion, his uncle were to just carry on with his smoke, undisturbed. However, meanwhile, Eru was to lay on the floor, pieces of glass piercing his tan skin. It was now that Eru was pissed, but- so too his foes whom now were out of alcohol to gulp down. It was clear that this was about to spiral out of control, but the captain had decided to just sit and watch, rather than stop this sudden fight.

The splash of booze and scattering of glass across the deck drew more attention just as the youth received a beating for his retaliation. A cycle of escalations that each could have been avoided had any of those involved taken a moment to think about the other person's perspective. Couldn't this have been settled with words? The blood within Tenju's blood began to boil and his bruises began to ache. Mistaking this for anger, the Okashiya scion chastised himself for letting the squabbling of fools shift his mood and forced himself to make a confident smile for show. No one must know that a dignified doctor of the Okashiya clan had doubts or seconds guesses. Tenju strained to maintain the desire image even as a trail of spilled swill rushed towards him. But the time the young herbalist noticed, he was feeling the cold damp touch of it soaking through a bit of his hakama and pants leg near the knee.
From beneath the shade of his striped hat two eyes glared down at the wet spot. Though his face wore a smile those eyes told a tale of rage. The staining had even touched one of the diamonds along the hem of his hakama. That was the Okashiya Clan symbol! And now it was blemished as though touched by a plague of discoloring. Tenju stood to his feet abruptly, the wooden clog sandals making a unique sound clacking against the wooden deck and broken glass. His subsequent steps took him along the trail of liquor on the floor to its source. The rowdy bunch who were beating on the child were not deaf and turned once they noticed to sound of the clogs closing in. "Father, Grandpa, you always say the family techniques shouldn't be used to cause harm. But then why does my back hurt so much? If its in service of saving someone...It's surely okay, right?" The blonde haired make thought to himself as his smile slowly became more natural and yet also twisted with a sadistic glee.
"Who the hell're you!? You want some of this too?"
The thuggish man reached over and lifted Tenju by his collar and cocked back his fist for a punch. The smiling Tenju simply extended a finger and poked the man's arm twice. His Pulse Rending Finger caused the fool to howl out in pain, releasing Tenju and staggering back onto his behind. The man looked at his arm in distress. "I-I can't move it! Argh! And it hurts! W-What did you do to me!?" The man whimpered. Tenju lowered his finger and turned to the other man who had been punching the grounded boy who was at this point surprised and turning to see what had happened to his friend.
"How about you go volunteer to do some work around the ship to pass time?"
Tenju suggested through his smile. That dangerous pointing finger of his was aimed at the man like a blade before slowly turning away to point at the mess on the deck they'd made. There was an underlying threat there, but Tenju cared not if the man understood that and backed down. Some small part of him hoped the man was too stupid and took a swing. He felt his execution on the last man was still too sloppy. If he considered that level of accuracy sufficient then he should just quit being a medical professional right here and now!

Antonie had tried to divert his attention to a baby who was perched on his mother’s shoulder looking at him. He made several attempts at funny faces to get a giggle from the baby but with no luck. Its skin tone was a bit greenish and the poor thing did not look like it was enjoying the ride. Just as he was reverting his face from something too silly to write in words, the sounds of glass shattering caused the busy ferry to fall into a hushed state. It seemed that the rowdy group of men from before started to get into a scuffle. Antonie gripped the seat hard for a moment debating whether to intervene or not. He glanced towards the ship’s Captian and the crew with him but noticed none seemed too interested in stepping in. He let out a sigh before standing up. Just as he did so, he saw a man wearing a brimmed hat walking toward the group. Antonie paused for a moment watching the man engage with the rowdy group.
Once one of the drunks put their hands on the man did Antonie begin to move towards the group. The stranger was more than capable to handle them it seemed. He was able to quickly hinder one of them while the rest grew grumpy and even more hostile. He positioned himself in front of the boy who was currently laying on the ground covered in alcohol and bits of sharded glass. It seemed the drunks were too preoccupied with the finger pusher to notice Antonie’s arrival. While he was not a fighter in his heart, he knew that this sort of behavior was well past the line of social acceptance. “Stop this nonsense right now. Look at what your ridiculous behavior has caused.” The baby from before had started to have a full-blown meltdown. Probably from the swaying of the ship but Antonie was going to use it as fuel for his guilt. “We’ve only a short ride on the ferry and you’ve already made such a mess. That poor mother is having to deal with her scared child because of you all. It would be best to find a place to sit and stay put until we disembark. Any more actions could lead to the authorities waiting for us at the port.” He held a firm tone in his voice and gave a cold stare at the drunks hoping they wouldn’t call his bluff.

Upon the deck of the ship, he was to lay beat down by the drunk men, and his skin pierced by glass. It was to seem that he was to be rescued though- not by just one kind soul but two. In truth though, Eru could have quickly dispatched of those thugs, but he tried desperately to keep his anger at bay. It was only thanks to those admirable two that he had no need to exert lethal force over the drunks. All of the other drunk thugs simply were to disperse.
Eru: "Tsk.."
It was clear Eru was a bit sour about this entire debacle, but, his anger was to quell within as short as a moment. In his mouth, he felt just a tiny bit of blood, but nothing to fret over. Eru peered his head over the washing water below the sailing vessel, and spat his blood out. A bright morning this was meanwhile the boy was to walk over to the two kind men.
Eru: "Thanks mister stripe-hat, and you also- mister hippie!"
It was clear by the tone of his voice he was thankful. However, not caring about the plentiful shards of glass stuck to his skin, the boy was to seemingly try to waltz away. Eru rather act cool and collected than look like he was harmed badly by the tussle, or pissed. In the corner of the deck, his uncle was to enjoy a smoke, having not noticed what had just occurred. Eru tucked his hands within the pockets of his shorts, trying to flee the scene without another word.

The swift arrival of another young man did not escape Tenju's notice. His smile broadened and he nodded in Antonie's direction. By tending to the battered youth it gave Tenju the sense that this was a competent person. "Finally, someone capable." The blonde haired Okashiya thought to himself as he listened and only approved further of the stranger. Though standing up for a crying babe was a small matter the chivalry and justice abiding spirit was something that could earn his respect.
Far less respectable was the scoundrel who had instigated the entire mess whom was now trying to quietly sneak away. The detestable scamp really thought he was forgiven due to the beating? No, that was paying back karma to the drunkard. Eru yet owed Tenju for the soggy hem of his prized hakama! Tenju's hand snatched towards Eru's collar and tried to grasp it firm so as to not let him get away.
"Not so fast!"
Tenju glared from beneath the brim of his striped hat and for a moment there, it seemed like Tenju might just attack the youth. He wanted to. He could see the perfect place to press from here. A single poke and he could worsen the injuries. Tenju extended his finger with his free right hand and raised it in silence. That gaze was so sharp it could pierce right through Eru. But then his hand stopped as if it had been caught in chains. The shadow of his grandfather Batsu chastized heavily in his heart. To harm with the clan techniques was forbidden. He couldn't bend the rules in this case, not like with the drunkard.
A sigh escaped his lips followed by a return of his cheshire smile. The finger shifted slightly and then he thrust his finger right into Eru's back near his heart. The Pulse Guiding Finger would reduce his pain and bring the bleeding of his injuries to a stop. It was no attack, but an act of healing! However...something about the smile Tenju was giving the boy would seem off. Wrong. Sinister. There was no good will reflected in Tenju's eyes at all.
"There, now that you've been treated you should be feeling much better. I guarantee it as a medical professional! Since you feel better now, that means you can help with the clean up. Right?"
The question didn't sound like a question. Especially not with Tenju holding his index finger up as if to flaunt its power. He then turned to look Antonie in the eyes and instantly his smile became much more sanitized of his real feelings. "It was brave of you to get involved. I don't dislike that sort of spirit. What's your name? I'm Tenju, son of the Okashiya clan." He declared proudly, still not having let go of Eru's collar just yet. Seeing as he had not asked the kids name it was clear that Tenju currently saw him and Antonie as people of two entirely different standings.

Antonie was fine with letting him finish what had already been started. He was just here to show that it will not go on any longer than needed. The other passengers were passing looks of annoyance. Some even eye the bleeding boy on the ground as if he were a caged animal. Truly disgusting intentions could be felt wafting throughout the cabin. Antonie dismissed the hippie comment for a moment. He was too busy keeping an eye on the fools that started this whole mess. Drunks in his experience would go one of two ways. Either very violent or passing out then and there. The drunks started to gather themselves and shuffle away, surprisingly. The crew of the ship kept a close eye on them as they moved away from the scene giving Antonie a bit of relief that they wouldn’t start something else. His attention shifted back to the hurt boy and the valiant stranger. [break][break] Antonie noticed that the hat-wearing man seemed to have a strange attitude toward the boy on the ground. It wasn’t hostile but it wasn’t friendly either. It was this weird grey space of passive aggressiveness. The man jabbed his finger into a certain position on the back of the injured boy. What might be perceived as an act of punishment was in actuality a medical technique. Seeing that his role in this whole matter was over, Antonie instead shifted his attention to the broken glass scattered all over the ground. While most were large enough for him to simply collect in his hand. [break][break] The hat man spoke out to Antonie, something that he wasn’t really expecting. “Oh, haha thanks. Just couldn’t stand people acting wild and crazy in a public setting.” He lightly chuckled at the compliment. He didn’t take too well to compliments and really had only stepped in due to the fact that this was getting to the point that the other passengers were starting to get involved. He stood up and kept the shattered pieces in his left hand while his right extended toward the stranger. “Antonie Simon. Nothing too interesting like a clan or anything. Just a simple man trying to do some good in the world.”

Eru was a weasel. In order to try and flee the scene, he had lowered his head, with the hopes of simply being disregarded. It is often how the boy retreated from hairy situations which he wished to be no part of- though he was the one at fault. Eru let his anger take him over- so, he did deserve to be chastised by the stripe-hat fellow. It was to be his first step toward proper growth as a young man. In haste, the boy tried to run, but the blonde man made him halt, asking him to remain where he was. It stung knowing he was at fault, but he tried to not take ownership of his actions, and rather just blame those drunks. Yet, deep within his heart, Eru knew his actions were wrong. It was not frequent though that he was scolded; Eru only was reprimanded when he failed a task assigned to him. Eru never cared to listen- but this was to be his first time. Upon being healed by the man who he thought may strike him, the boy could tell he was about to be held responsible for what had just occurred. It sure sucked, but, this was certainly the right course of action. If the boy wished to change, and become an admirable 'Hunter', then he ought to admit to his mistakes when they occur. Eru: ".. sorry.. I will get to work.."It was obvious based on his face that he felt bad now for his actions. Eru was to grasp ahold of a mop one of the deckhands of the ship were to provide, meanwhile a few of the conscious drunks began to pick up the shards of glass. It had looked to be that every party had learned a rather valuable lesson today, but only thanks to the two men who assisted. In the corner of the deck, the uncle of Eru was to finish up his smoke, before glancing over toward the boy. In his gray old eyes, a deep gratitude for the two men could be discerned. It was odd that the man did not stop his nephew. However, perhaps there was a particular reason for why. ".. It looks to be we have a few promising ones .."

A polite bow of the head and smile were served up to Antonie after introductions."That is quite admirable of you! If you are ever ill, head to Okashiya Village in eastern Kuybo. Tell them I sent you and my family will use their medical techniques to help." Behind the show of generosity was guilt. Tenju's own motivations were far more selfish and petty. Deep down Tenju had to admit that he was failing to live up to the Okashiya name in spirit even if his actions had yet to truly cross the line. "It was a pleasure to meet you." Tenju added before turned away. With a sigh, he allowed his poker face smile to relax into a furrowed frown.
A gust of wind nearly took Tenju's hat as he walked towards the bow of the ship. He gave Eru and the other troublemakers a glare as he passed by but it was less malicious and hostile when compared to before. With a huff, he turned his nose up at them without a word. He could see that they were doing the work asked of them and so he would give them no trouble. But he still resented them over his soggy coat corner.
With one hand holding his hat down Tenju looked out at the ocean before him. He didn't know where the ship was headed. He only knew that he was eager to arrive there. Reaching into his pocket with his free hand he clutched the sealed letter in his hand wondering just who it was for. Even in his grip it did not wrinkle or crumple. As if the envelope had been made with steel. Another long sigh escaped his lips.
Perhaps when the ship arrived at its destination, he would learn the secrets his father was keeping around the exam. Tenju still didn't understand why it was so important to get a hunter license anyways. He was more interested in seeing the wider world now that he had finally gotten a chance to get out of his small village. But the looming shadow of the young man's father and the fear he felt when he thought of disobeying the man caused Tenju to stamp out his free spirited ambitions.
The sore bruises on his back ached as they slowly healed. The handy work of his father. It acted as a constant reminder to Tenju what sort of punishment would await him if he disobeyed him or broke the family rules. Grandfather would not spare him either. But hopefully things would be different once he got the hunter license. Once he became an official Medicinal Hunter like his family wanted, maybe then he would be able to gain the father, grandpa duo's recognition. The glittering ocean and another strong wind answered his anxieties with a sense of wonder.
Finally the crew had begun their departure and the ship unmoored from the dock. That gust at their backs fed the sails as they unfurled and off the vessel was. Tenju slowly got used to the rocking as they met the waves outside of the bay and felt his worries wash away. A genuine smile full of hope came over him as he set sail towards his destiny.
